Chi Town

We took a family trip to Chicago from May 4th through May 9th. We stayed with Joe's sister Carey and her family who moved there from Washington D.C. last October. It's great having them closer and still in a cool city. My cousin Morgan also met us there because our godchildren, Ashley & Haley Mlinar, received their first communion on Saturday, May 7th, in Springfield, IL.

Carey, Mike, Hayden, and Lincoln live in a cool neighborhood ironically named "Lincoln Square". It had some cute shops that we spent some time at as well as a mafia-ized coffee shop Morgan briefly hung out at unbeknownst to her. Carey was in shock when Morgan mentioned she was at the coffee shop that she and Mike DARE step foot into. :) We went to the Navy Pier where we lost Hayden (aka she ran away from us) for a very VERY long 5 minutes. After much panic, tears, and the Navy Pier police even looking for her, we finally found her near the food cart...far from where we were when she took off. THANKFULLY she was okay and was then on a tight leash for the rest of the day. We concluded the craziness with a ride on the ferris wheel while we continued our search not for Hayden this time, but for Ariel the mermaid. Unfortunately we did not see her but believe me, we WERE yelling for her.

The following day Morgan, Joe, and I attended our first (not Morgan's) Cubs game. It was a beautiful day and pretty awesome to watch such a legendary baseball team. After the game Morgan, Tatum, and I then drove to Springfield for the night and attended the twins' first communion. When back in Chicago, we took an incredible boat tour on the river through Chicago and learned of the history of its many incredible architectural buildings. It went by way too fast but we are happy Emme & Tatum were able to spend some quality time with Hayden & Lincoln in their new city of Chicago.
